Subtitling
Production of subtitles for television or films is a complex exercise requiring not only translation but also a complicated process of adaptation. The technical constraints of audiovisual media – number of images per second – and the discrepancy between oral expression and the written word (enunciation and comprehension) often entails making difficult choices. It involves prioritising and selecting the most important information to convey the crux of the message. Formulation is also of capital importance, since the work often entails conveying emotions and feelings. The translators we work with all have solid experience in this complex, specialised field.
